A unique gala event to benefit Friends of Children.

At Friends of Children, we do whatever it takes to improve the lives of children and young people in the foster care system. Our programs include: Statewide advocacy at the legislative level for a more transparent and accountable foster care system; Group mentoring and community development programs; Individual volunteer advocacy in courts and schools; and Donations projects to provide school supplies, winter coats and extracurricular experiences.

Friends of Children is never out of reach for a child navigating foster care; we are always here to help. But we can't do it alone: we need your support.

Every year, we throw an upbeat event to celebrate our community and raise much-needed funds to benefit the children and young people with whom we work. It is our great joy to once again pair the excitement of a fabulous party with the important stories of those we serve. This event generates a significant portion of our operating funds, and is crucial to our work. Please join us for the party of the year! Bid, eat, drink, dance ... and help us make 2018 the best it can be for vulnerable young people in our community.

Do I hear $50?

This year, we are partnering with Gesture electronic bidding platform to host our auction online. This means that you can let your phone or tablet do all the hard work for you: you can set your limits and increments and let the system work its magic, or get text alerts when you are outbid so you can keep on top of your favorite items. Bidding is as easy as sending a text.

You can even preview some of the items and place bids starting April 5th. AND we'll be putting up EVEN MORE items live during the Red Shoe Ball only. Items will be present at the event for your inspection and inspiration, but all bidding will take place on your phone or on the tablets we provide. And, for the first time, you can bid and win auction items without being present, a great option for our friends and donors across the country who aren't able to attend in person.

The food, champagne toast, music, community, and surprise raffle are for on-site guests only.

Not a fan of smartphones? No worries! There will be Gesture staff onsite to place bids on your behalf or help you navigate your device. Easy!
